She can do some special tricks with the jump rope like “scissors,” and sometimes she and her friends play doubles with longer rops. She also loves to play on swings, and especially loves the swings at her school, because she can swing so high on them. Her favorite subject in school is science, where she is currently learning about plant and animal life. Her second favorite school subject is math, in which she is currently learning about basic algebra and geometry. Pratima also finds her General Knowledge (GK) course interesting, because she gets to learn about all kinds of different subject matter. She has recently learned about Nepali presidential history, many different famous people, and national birds, animals and dresses from around the world. When she grows up, she wants to be a doctor or a surgeon, because the work is interesting and she would like to help those in need. In her recent first term exams, she received 94%, and came in 3rd in her class of 21 students.

PERSONAL HISTORY: We know that Pratima was found abandoned on the road by patrolling police in the Basundhara area of Kathmandu. At that time, Pratima was about two and ½ years old and she was brought to the Bal Mandir orphanage by the police. .

WHAT MAKES ME SPECIAL? “Pratima,” which means “Statue/Photo” in Nepali, is a happy girl who loves to dance, sing and play with other children. She especially loves to watch cartoons. Her favorite sport is running. Her favorite subject in school is English “ABCs” and she wants to be a teacher when she grows up. Pratima’s favorite color is red, and her favorite food is ice cream. Pratima loves spending time swinging, sliding, dancing and playing dolls with her friends. Her best friend is Arya. For the first time, she spent the long Dashain holiday with her HCC family at the new group home instead of at the orphanage—she loved it!
