My name is Sano Kanchha. I am studying in Jiri Technical School (JTS) in Jiri-Dolakha taking a Diploma in Animal Husbandry, and I am in my third year. Our course in the 3rd year is more practical learning than the theory. We have not only been limited in our exposure to the district itself but also with the different parts of the country to observe the real situations of taking proper care of the animals. I traveled to the eastern parts of the country from 13th December to the 21st December 2017 for the educational tour. Three days of the tour was spent traveling to the eastern part of Nepal and the rest of the eight days were spent on going to the different places to see the farms. During the visit, we had more of the educational sectors related to agriculture and the animal. During the tour, we got to know about the place where the animals are reared. We asked essential key questions like: How much time do we need to examine the animal? What is the advantage of the place? Which species it? We also did some examination about the condition of the animal by checking and observing them.
We got the chance to be in the Animal Development Farms. In Pokhara, we went to see the fish farming, cage enclosure techniques, and new pig farming methodology. We got to visit famous places like Puranchaur Campus of Agriculture & Forestry University, Gandaki Trout Farm (Bhurjung Khola), Agricultural Research Center- Kaski, Ostrich Farm Rupandehi, Ghasbali Anusandhan Kendra Lalbandhi Sarlahi, Tarara Sai Farm Dharan, National Livestock Breeding Center Pokhara, Pakhribas Bakhra Farm Bandipur, Kamadhenu Dairy & Cattle Farm Gorkha, Panthi Dairy Pokhara, Parsa Banyajantu Arakshyan. We also visited places like Chitwan, Lumbini, Sauraha, Nawalparasi, Janakpur, Hetauda, Itahari, Dharan, Biratnagar, Jhapa, Illam- Kanyam tea garden, Pashupatinagara and some places in Darjeeling.
From the education tour, we gained knowledge about animals, their species, seeds and feeding behavior, curing of disease, rearing animals, grass feeding timetables. I learned many new things and got to explore many places. I got to use the practical application of the studies in the real world related to the different agricultural and animal health-related issues. Thank you for supporting me to go to the educational tour.
