Himalayan Children’s Charities (HCC) has three primary education programs — the Signature Program, the PEAK Program and the RISE Program. HCC works to transform lives and promote change by breaking cycles of poverty, creating opportunities for successful futures, and encouraging a culture of giving back.

Achievements: In 2021, we supported 128 students in our three main programs — 33 students in the Signature Program, 85 in the RISE Program, and 10 in the PEAK Program. These three programs have supported 238 students since 2000.

The Kathmandu Signature Program

Our founding program provides education, care and mentorship for children and youth in Kathmandu, Nepal. Students attend quality, English-medium boarding school through grade 10, and spend holidays at Khushi Ghar, the HCC youth home, where students in grades 11 and 12 live full time. Khushi Ghar creates a stable, nurturing and family-like environment and provides our students with the guidance they need to succeed and thrive. After high school students are given the option to attend university or technical school (through the PEAK Program) and are provided guidance to help choose an academic and career path. The Signature Program works to inspire self-confidence, independence, and enable each of our students to elevate their lives and the world around them.

RISE Program

Nepal is one of the poorest countries in the world and children in rural areas are particularly vulnerable to forced child labor, early marriage and human trafficking. Keeping children in school greatly reduces these risks and provides opportunities for a stable and prosperous adulthood. The RISE Program provides rural investments in student education, providing marginazlied children with the opportunity to stay in school – strengthening local communities and keeping children safe. The program aims to keep students living with family members, and also offers boarding school scholarships for children with no surviving family.
