NOVEMBER 2015 UPDATE: Tashi is now 10 years old, and she is studying in grade 5. She loves to dance to Nepali, Hindi and English songs, and is currently learning a dance with her sisters at Khusi Ghar for the upcoming Tihar festival. She is also talented in sports, and plays basketball and football with her friends at school. In school, her favorite subjects are math, social science, English, and General Knowledge (GK). In GK, she is learning interesting facts from around the world, such as about different currencies, countries and continents, and the difference between full-form and abbreviation (such as Himalayan Children’s Charities as HCC). In math, she is currently learning about fraction, percent, and about basic geometry concepts. In social science she recently learned about the inspiring work of Nepal’s CNN Hero’s: Anuradha Koirala of Maiti Nepal and Pushpa Basnet. She is also learning about Nepal’s different festivals. When she grows up, she would like to help other kids who have lost their families by giving them opportunities to study. In her recent first term exams, she received a 74%. Although she found the exams difficult she says she plans to work hard to improve her scores next term, and plans to get a score of 80% or above.

PERSONAL HISTORY: There are very few records that tells us about Tashi’s origin and she doesn’t remember how she landed in the orphanage. She has no relatives that come to get her during the holidays. She has spent 5 years in the orphanage and joined HCC recently.
WHAT MAKES ME SPECIAL? Tashi is very sporty girl and loves to play jump rope with her friends. She enjoys reading fairy tales and “Hansel and Gretel” is the story that she likes very much.Math is a subject that she loves in school.Her favorite colors are black and white and she loves eating pizzas and momos. She wants to be a police officer and help fight crime.
